New Emissions Reduction and Energy Development (ERED) Plan: Alberta’s government announced a new ERED Plan outlining a path forward for net-zero aspirations by 2050. The plan maintains Alberta’s commitment to affordable, reliable, and secure energy ensuring that cutting emissions does not make life more difficult or expensive. Career education programming: The Career Education Task Force presented recommendations following a comprehensive review of career education programming in Alberta. Recommendations include increasing ease of access to off-campus education, reviewing dual credit programming, developing more teaching training opportunities, promoting career education scholarships, and enhancing how career education programming is measured. Aviation Skills Grant: The UCP government announced a new $5-million grant to strengthen Alberta’s aviation talent pool. The Aviation Skills Grant program provides Alberta-based aviation employers with up to $30,000 per trainee to offset training costs to meet employers’ skilled labour needs.
NDP campaign commitments: Making a pre-election announcement, the NDP committed to building affordable housing for 40,000 Albertans. In another announcement, the NDP committed to deliver universal broadband access to all Albertans by 2027.
