Manitoba Votes Day 21

This week, Probe Research released a poll that provides more insight into issues that are top of mind  for  Manitobans. Participants identified crime, healthcare, and poverty as the most important issues as they prepare to cast their ballots.

The PCs primary campaign message, taxation, ranked at the bottom of the list of issues voters consider their greatest concern during this election. On Tuesday, Stefanson had a sit-down interview with The Brandon Sun which largely reiterated her promises to reduce taxes while also highlighting infrastructure commitments in the city. Stefanson’s recent public safety announcement in Brandon is intended to motivate 2019 PC voters to cast their ballots in Brandon East and West for the PCs again this Tuesday.

According to Probe Research’s findings, healthcare was even more likely to the be identified as the top ballot issue amongst NDP and Liberal supporters in vote-rich Winnipeg. This means that Kinew’s consistent healthcare messaging is likely to be well received by past Liberal supporters, but the NDP will need to mobilize these voters to ensure they show up at the ballot box in key ridings.  Kinew hosted a press conference in the St. Boniface riding, currently held by Manitoba Liberal leader Dougald Lamont, where he promised to increase support for government services provided in French. Though not top of mind for all Manitobans, this may motivate French speaking Liberals in the riding to swing their vote in support of the NDP.
