About the Role:  

Wellington Advocacy is seeking motivated and enthusiastic team members to join us for a full-time paid summer internship. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside seasoned professionals in government relations, public policy, and communications.

Responsibilities:  

  • Support the team in their responsibilities; 
  • Assist with the preparation of government relations plans, client presentations, memos, proposals and client briefing notes; 
  • Conduct research on a variety of issues across different sectors and identify potential opportunities and strategies for clients; 
  • Proactively monitoring, interpreting and reporting on government activities – Including the political, parliamentary, and legislative landscapes; 
  • Ensure on-time delivery of assignments and client projects
  • Act as an official note-taker on all client-facing calls;  
  • Use their knowledge, skill, and experience to assist the Corporation with its consulting services. 

Requirements:  

  • Currently enrolled in a related field or a post-secondary education in Political Science, Public Relations, Communications or a related field;  
  • Very strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated strength in public presentations;   
  • Excellent research, writing and communications skills; 
  • Familiarity with the provincial or federal government decision-making process; 
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environment; 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite; 
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
