Join Our Team:
Wellington is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Controller to join our team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong foundation in finance or accounting who is eager to support a range of bookkeeping, payroll, and budgeting functions in a dynamic and client-focused environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with full cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions
- Oversee the billing process, ensuring accuracy in client invoices and adherence to billing guidelines
- Oversee outstanding accounts and ensure timely follow-up on collections to facilitate prompt payment
- Maintain, monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accurately
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, conduct monthly expense reviews, and implement a financially conservative approach to identify areas for cost control and strategic decision-making
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with the Chief Administrative Officer, and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errors
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Cultivate strong working relationships with clients, collaborating with accounting and administrative teams to deliver exceptional client service
- Undertake any other related or ad hoc duties assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer or Chief Executive Officer, with a view to delivering optimal service and addressing the team’s specific requirements.

Who You Are:
You are a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional with a strong sense of accountability and a commitment to excellence. You bring a thoughtful, analytical approach to your work and are comfortable navigating competing priorities in a dynamic, client-focused environment. Your ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively allows you to contribute meaningfully to both internal teams and client relationships.
- You have 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally within a professional services environment.
- You hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration.
- You are proficient in cloud-based accounting systems, with experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO) considered an asset.
- You possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams and with clients.
- You are comfortable working under pressure and consistently meeting tight deadlines.
- You have strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A background in political science—whether through academic training or practical experience—is considered a strong asset.
